Anukia: A Fresh Twist on a Mexican Classic

Friday, November 22, 2013

If you've ever been to Mexico you have definitely seen the typical huarache that's made out of leather. These are made in either brown or black leather, but to day I'm gonna give you the story and amazing huaraches that these Mexican designers have for you.

The story of these creations begin when one of the founders, Anna, wanted to find more stylish and colorful huaraches but didn't seem to find any. That's when they decided to take on the task to create huaraches with a bit more style and color. They looked for artisans that would help them create this idea, but most of them said that they would ruin the typical huarache and that it would be as flattering as they thought it would. They looked and looked until they finally found a family of artisans that would help them and that's when Anukia was born.

Anukia is 100% artisanal, born and created in Mexico. They use synthetic leather and soles for their pieces. Their pieces consist of big splashes of color depending on the season. They also incorporate different designs and even re-invented the huarache a bit.

They have participated in many fashion runways such as: Minerva Fashion, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and Winter Beach Playa del Carmen. They have also collaborated with many designers.

Anukia opened its first shop in Guadalajara. The founders, Anna and Juan have a main goal with this brand and that is to simply create beautiful Mexican huaraches and to show the Mexican people and the rest of the world what they are capable of.

The shop is found in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico but recently the company has been shipping their huaraches to other parts of the world such as USA and Germany. Don't miss out on these beautiful creations that you probably wont be able to find anywhere else. They are fresh and great with any outfit. They are just perfect on those days when all you want to be is relaxed. I highly recommend, what's better than artisanal made products that are completely fashionable!
